A decade in the making, The Student Union, UT's largest building project in its history will host the AR Summit VII plenary sessions.

Now in its seventh year, after successive ground-breaking Summits at  Argonne National Laboratory, the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Texas A&M University, and the University of California San Diego, the Advanced Reactors Summit VII will take place at Tennessee's flagship university and premier public research institution, the University of Tennessee.  Established in 1957, the University of Tennessee's Department of Nuclear Engineering is one of the oldest and most prestigious programs in the United States. With close ties to Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Y-12 Nuclear Security Complex, and faculty that is internationally recognized for excellence in research and teaching it is no wonder why the University of Tennessee's Department of Nuclear Engineering program consistently ranks as one of the top in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.

The AR Summit VII's array of events will all take place in the heart and soul of East Tennessee - that's Downtown Knoxville.  A thriving modern city with small town charm, Knoxville is known for its diverse music scene, boutique shops in beautifully restored buildings, festivals, world-class theaters, parks, museums and more than 90 restaurants within one square mile. It's no wonder U.S. News and World Report lists Knoxville among the top places to live.

Knoxville is also home to the headquarters of the Tennessee Valley Authority and nearby Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the U.S. Department of Energy's largest science and energy laboratory, and with more than one hundred nuclear related companies located within fifty miles, Knoxville and the East Tennessee area may have the largest concentration of nuclear industry anywhere in the world.

The AR Summit VII will continue its focus on showcasing technology developers and advancing solutions on the cost and deployment timeframe of advanced reactors, as well as practical ideas and concepts that have the potential of significantly improving advanced reactor design, deployment, and operations.
